Breeding Objectives at Star® Roses and Plants
We believe a plant must do more than look pretty, it must solve a need for our customer and the end consumer. After 125 years, you can trust we’ve learned a few things about breeding, developing, and introducing successful plants.
Our goal is to introduce plants that are:
- Unique
- Visually appealing
- Tolerant of pests and disease
- Environmentally adaptable
To accomplish this, we partner with experienced hybridizers around the world who entrust us with their ideas and discoveries. In addition, our in-house breeding and development team works in collaboration with our central research division, Ball Helix, to apply traditional and modern techniques in plant genetics to the development of industry-worthy and consumer-friendly ornamental flowering plants.
